A Reminder that Clearing Weeds is the Priority in Preparation for Fire Season

Atascadero Fire & Emergency Services would like to remind residents that clearing weeds by June 1st is mandatory! If your weeds are not cleared by June 1, 2020, a City contractor will be authorized to clear the hazardous weeds and/or refuse on un-cleared parcels. If the City contractor clears the weeds, the City recovers costs for administering this program through recovery of the cost of abatement, plus a flat fee of $260 plus a percentage charge of 166% administrative fee, which is placed on the San Luis Obispo County Special Tax Assessment for the fiscal year 2020-2021 Tax Roll.

All property owners having any objections to the proposed removal of the hazard are hereby notified to attend a meeting of the City Council of the City of Atascadero to be held on May 12, 2020 at 6:00 pm when their objections will be heard and given due consideration

Residents of Atascadero are encouraged to take care of hazardous weeds as soon as possible. Atascadero Fire & Emergency Service’s mission, through its hazard reduction program, is to eliminate vegetative growth and/or refuse which may cause a fire or life and safety hazard. If you feel a property is in violation you may report it here: https://permits.atascadero.org/eTrakit/CRM/issue.aspx
