ATASCADERO – This afternoon, Wednesday, Dec. 16, first responders were called to the Atascadero Lake after reports of an incident related to a mental health situation involving a mother and child.

It was reported that the mother was arrested for unknown charges and the child was taken into custody.

No further information is available at this time.

Update: Terrie Banish, Deputy City Manager of Atascadero, stated the incident is a mental health issue and because of that the city will not comment.
