One-night only “Taste of the Bay” menu at Chamber of Commerce Gala

The Morro Bay Chamber of Commerce announced today it will host its Annual Gala on January 31st at the Morro Bay Community Center with a bistro-style “Taste of the Bay, Toast of the Town” theme. Open to the public and attended by Morro Bay’s civic and community leaders, the Annual Gala is an awards and installation dinner that honors those who contribute selflessly to the community.

According to Steven Peck, 2020 board chairman of the Morro Bay Chamber of Commerce, the Gala’s menu intentionally “shines a light not only on the high quality and diversity of our local restaurant scene, but also on the spirit of collaboration among our Chamber members.” Gala guests will enjoy Dutchman’s New England Style clam chowder with real butter and smoked bacon, 60 State Park Restaurant’s locally raised gourmet beef sliders, Grape Leaf Market’s heirloom hummus, falafel, pita and grape leaves, Shine Cafe’s Fresh Start organic greens, Pizza Port’s handmade artisan pizza dough breadsticks, Morro Bay Butcher Company’s seared New York steak, and DiStasio’s on the Bay’s Italian garlic, spinach and cheese manicotti. Local bakery, Sun n’ Buns, will provide fresh baked cookies and macaroons for dessert.

The Gala, known locally as “Morro Bay’s Big Night Out,” will formally recognize outstanding leadership across the spectrum of generations. Zeeann McCarty, who personifies the extraordinary talent emerging from Morro Bay High School, will be honored as Student Citizen of the Year. Glenn Silloway, who has done transformational work with both the Morro Bay Open Space Alliance and Historical Society of Morro Bay, will be honored as Citizen of the Year. Jeremiah O’Brien, one of the most widely recognized representatives of commercial fishing in the State of California, will come to stage as Morro Bay’s Living Treasure after decades of leadership on the waterfront. Michael Williams of San Luis Sports Therapy will accept the award for Business of the Year in recognition of the exceptional workplace culture he has created through an “all hands on deck” approach, and  producing the wildly successful fundraiser for Project Surf Camp in the springtime. All will receive recognition from elected representatives from local, state and national offices.

The cocktail reception starts at 5:30pm with live music by the Twice Cooked Jazz Trio playing jazz manouche, brought to the Gala by Big Big SLO. The event is open to the public and tickets may be purchased at www.my805tix.com or by contacting the Chamber at 805.772.4467.
