SLO Beaver Brigade organizes Summer Salinas River Cleanup Series

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY — The SLO Beaver Brigade is inviting community members to help clean and restore the Salinas River during a series of volunteer events scheduled this summer in Paso Robles and Atascadero.

The cleanup series aims to remove litter and debris from the river and surrounding areas while promoting stewardship of one of the Central Coast's most important waterways. Volunteers of all experience levels are welcome, and the organization will provide trash pickers, gloves, bags, snacks, and refreshments.

Cleanup events are scheduled for June 27, July 8, and Aug. 27. Specific locations along the Salinas River in Paso Robles and Atascadero will be provided upon registration.

The project is supported by Athletic Brewing Company through its "Two for the Trails" grant program, which funds outdoor stewardship and conservation initiatives nationwide.

"We are thrilled to bring the community together for a common cause — protecting the Salinas River for both people and wildlife," said Eli, Volunteer Coordinator for the SLO Beaver Brigade. "Whether you can make one event or all three, every pair of hands makes a real difference."

Founded in 2020, the SLO Beaver Brigade works to educate residents about the ecological benefits of beavers and their role in improving watersheds, enhancing wildlife habitat, and increasing resilience to drought, flooding, and wildfire.

The events are free and open to the public, with participation encouraged for adults and older children accompanied by a guardian. More information can be found at SLOBeaverBrigade.com
