SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY — As temperatures rise and Fourth of July festivities approach, Woods Humane Society is reminding the community to take extra precautions to keep pets safe this summer.
Woods CEO Emily L’Heureux urges pet owners to protect animals from the dangers of fireworks, hot cars, and heatstroke. Tips include never leaving pets in vehicles, securing pets indoors during fireworks, and keeping pets hydrated with access to cool, shaded areas.
Woods also stresses the importance of microchipping and proper ID tags to help reunite lost pets. Microchips are available at both Woods locations for $20 by appointment.
