City still looking for volunteers
The City of Atascadero has announced that its Recreation Department is now registering kids for their youth soccer conditioning program that will run throughout the month of October. The program will accept kids from kindergarten age up to eighth grade and begin on October 5 and operate through October 29.
The City has announced that the program is compliant with current local and state guidelines. The pods will consist of no more than 10 participants, and there will be no shared equipment between players or coaches, while a physical distance of six feet from others will be required.
The conditioning program will focus on individual skill development and provide athletes with some much-needed fun time away from their devices. Each coach will have planned training routines and conditioning specifically designed to get children outside and active while also staying healthy. Kids will not participate in scrimmages or games and cannot join a pod that is not their own.
Times of practice session will be based on a child’s grade level and volunteer coaches’ availability. Still, it will generally happen on Mondays and Wednesdays between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. or Tuesdays and Thursdays. The conditioning program costs $75, and all practices will take place at Paloma creek park.
The Youth Soccer program is still looking for more volunteer coaches to accommodate as many children as possible. Volunteer coaches do not need to be soccer experts, as training plans will be provided.
