On a sunny and warm late winter day, a familiar but sharp sound of Atascadero High School cross country coach Roger Warnes voice rang out on the track at AHS Memorial Field as the first audience-attended high school sporting event in San Luis Obispo County took place on Friday.

The Templeton High School Eagles traveled to meet the AHS Greyhounds for a cross country meet, and the voices of coaches, students, school staff and fans filled the air as the student-athletes cheered each other on around the campus of AHS for a 2.4-mile run.
