Greyhounds show resilience with strong offensive play and tournament redemption

ATASCADERO — The Atascadero Greyhounds’ basketball season has been a mix of victories and defeats. On Nov. 21, they secured a close win against Pioneer Valley High School with a score of 71-70. However, their following game on Nov. 28, resulted in a 56-26 loss to South High School.

The team bounced back on Nov. 30, defeating Santa Ynez High School with an impressive score of 80-57. Despite the loss against South, Atascadero demonstrated a strong offensive performance in this game.

Moving into December, the Greyhounds faced challenges in the Morro Bay High School Tournament and Morro Bay Classic. On Dec. 1, they lost to Garces Memorial High School with a score of 70-62 and to Buchanan High School with a score of 77-39. However, they redeemed themselves on Dec. 2, by winning the Morro Bay HIT game against Nipomo High School by a score of 60-48.

This week, the Greyhounds faced the Arroyo Grande Eagles and suffered a 62-40 defeat. Arroyo Grande currently sits at 16th in the CIF Central Section with Atascadero ranked at 34. On Saturday, the Greyhounds will move on to play the Independence Falcons of Bakersfield. Currently, the Greyhounds hold a 3-4 season record.
