Event also includes bake sale, Challengers Central Coast car show, sundae bar, raffle and more
ATASCADERO — This Saturday, Feb. 12, the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) 2814 will pit a dozen local chili makers against each other for the 2022 VFW 2814 Chili Cook-Off.
In addition to the official judging, there will be a People’s Choice Award, Valentine’s Day Bake Sale, the Challengers Central Coast Show & Shine car show, a sundae bar, raffle prizes, T-shirts for sale, free face painting and more. Admission and parking are free.
The 2022 VFW 2814 Chili Cook-Off schedule is:
- 11 a.m.: Valentine’s Day Bake sale and raffle ticket sales begin
- 11:30 a.m.: Public tasting/judging begins ($5 per person)
- 12:30 p.m.: Sundae Bar opens and chili available by the bowl
- 1 p.m.: Chili Cook-off winners and raffle winners announced (must be present to win)
- 2 p.m.: Bake sale ends
- 2:30 p.m.: Sundae bar and chili sales end
Raffle prizes include gift cards to local businesses and restaurants, bottles of local wine, handmade charcuterie board, coffee gift baskets, kitchen knives and more. Raffle tickets are $2 each or 15 for $20. The VFW 2814 is grateful for the generous donations from the following: Miner’s Ace Hardware, Donati Family Vineyard, Starbucks (West Front Street), Sarzotti Vineyards, Edge Works Sharpening, Sandy Edmunson, Becky Mansfield and Kathy Strang.

The VFW 2814 is located at 9555 Morro Road near Santa Rosa Road in Atascadero. Overflow parking is available at the Cornerstone Community Church office parking lot off Santa Rosa Road (7920 Santa Rosa Road).
