Former Atascadero teacher releases first book

‘Ophelia’s Uncommonly Odd Odyssey’ is a fantasy for young readers

ATASCADERO — Alan Pietsch’s first novel, published by 30 Hilltop Publishers, was released Thursday, June 6. “Ophelia’s Uncommonly Odd Odyssey” is the story of a young girl who is addicted to books.

Ophelia is miserable always being chided by people for her constant reading and having her books taken from her by her teacher, until one day while reading at lunch, she unexpectedly falls into her story.

What ensues is a rollercoaster ride of encounters with some of her favorite characters from literature. Ophelia thoroughly enjoys her adventure until she realizes in order to get back to school she has to learn some valuable lessons.

“Ophelia’s Uncommonly Odd Odyssey” is described as an “entertaining page-turner that will liven up your summer.”

Pietsch is a former professional dancer, 35-year teaching veteran, creator of The Elements of Dance dance education posters which he sold worldwide, and the creator of the documentary film, “The Atascadero Fine Arts Academy – A Jewel of a School.”

Pietsch is also one of the founding faculty of the Atascadero Fine Arts Academy.
